What all the F.I.T, Dry & Clima jargon means

Nike Sphere Dry…….

Nike recently introduced a 21st Century innovation to sports apparel that goes way beyond moisture control. Called Nike Sphere Dry, this moisture management system is actually a personal climate control construction which allows air space between the fabric and the skin.

This proprietary fabric structure combined with unique garment architecture allows air to flow between the fabric and skin, thus cooling and drying the body and diminishing any “cling” of fabric to the body.

Nike Sphere Dry was originally developed to cool the bodies of marathoners at the Sydney Olympics. Now it’s available for other athletes and recreationalists like football and golfers.

No cling + no sweat = a better game.

CLIMALITE

ClimaLite: Light, breathable fabrics worn close to the skin that conduct heat and sweat away from the body to keep you cool and dry in even the warmest conditions

Climalite FABRIC HELPS KEEP YOU COMFORTABLE AND DRY BY MOVING PERSPIRATION FROM YOUR SKIN TO THE OUTSIDE FOR RAPID EVAPORATION"

CLIMACOOL

ClimaCool: 360 degree ventilation around the foot for cooling comfort and improved efficiency

3D Fabrics

3D Fabrics: Fabrics with a three-dimensional structure that allows air to circulate close to the skin, removing heat and sweat and providing optimal cooling during competition and training

  • DRI F.I.T. Moisture Management

Keeps you cool or warm, but always dry.

If you work out, you're going to sweat. But are you still going to stay comfortable?

    Removes Sweat

Dri-F.I.T. microfiber works to keep you comfortable - transporting perspiration from your skin to the outside for rapid evaporation. Work out. Sweat. Stay comfortable. Dri-F.I.T. fabric wicks moisture away from your skin to keep you dry, especially where light weight is important. As moisture is produced by the body, it moves quickly through the first (hydrophobic or water-hating) layer of the Dri-F.I.T. garment. This layer neither absorbs nor slows down the moisture; instead, it acts as a pump or syphon, delivering the moisture to a second (hydrophylic or water-loving) layer, which disperses the moisture across the outer surface for rapid evaporation. Dri-F.I.T. fabric - lightweight, breathable comfort.

    Case Study -

A weekend warrior charges into your sports store and interrogates you as to why she should buy a Dri-F.I.T. top instead of a regular cotton polo. You calmly reply that she will sweat in both tops when she works out. In fact, swea t is good, you say. But, too much and you'll overheat or get chilled. Dri-F.I.T. keeps you comfortable.

CLIMA F.I.T. Protection from the Elements

Provides breathable protection against the elements.

Maybe moisture can't get in from the outside, but can it get out from the inside?

    Water-Resistant

Clima-F.I.T. is a microfiber that resists rain, wind and snow wile keeping you comfortable by allowing excess body heat and perspiration to escape. Protective, lightweight and extremely breathable. Clima-F.I.T. microfiber protects you from wind, ligh t rain and snow. Its high breathability allows for the efficient passage of moisture vapor to keep you comfortable while resisting outside moisture. Ultra-fine filaments are tightly packed into a woven construction. (How fine? Take a half a paper clip a nd stretch it out to a length of 5 1/2 miles!) These spaces are too small to allow outside water droplets to enter, yet large enough to let perspiration vapor exit. The use of a dense weave also eliminates the need for a special laminates or coatings. The result is a truly lightweight, water-resistant fabric with outstanding breathability and a soft, supple hand.

    Case Study -

A running fanatic comes in your store dripping wet. She says she's tired of getting wet and wants a jacket that will resist light rain but still remain breathable. You tell her that, sure, keeping rain out is important, but the sweat and heat buildup on the inside is equally as important. Ever try to work out in a yellow slicker? Clima-F.I.T. provides protective breathability.

    THERMA F.I.T. Insulation

    Offers an exceptional warmth-to-weight ratio.

You can wear almost anything to stay warm. But can you still move?

    Warm and Light

The tight weave of Therma-F.I.T. fleece works like a microfiber blanket - extremely warm, light and comfortable. Lightweight freedom from the cold. Therma-F.I.T. microfleece provides superior warmth. It dries quickly, compresses easily and has the s oft hand of cashmere - thin, warm, light and stretchy. Exceptional thermal properties come from the use of microfibers (ultrafine, soft, supple yarns) in a dense weave. The fleece is brushed on both sides, which doubles the air pockets. This "dead" air is the best insulating vehicle known. Body heat warms the air in these spaces, which retain their energy and resist heat loss to the outer surface. Equal in temperature range to comparable products, but with much less bulk, these densely constructed Therma-F.I.T. garments provide greater warmth and wind resistance that other thermal fabrics.

    Case Study -

Roger Rockslide takes a lot of day hikes and wants a comfortable top that will keep him warm but won't take up too much room when he stuffs it in his day pack. Roger has two options. He could continue toting his heavy wool jacket or he could opt for lightweight freedom of movement. Therma-F.I.T. allows for this lightwight warmth.

    STORM F.I.T. Superior Waterproof Protection

    The waterproof yet breathable solution.

What's so great about keeping water out when you're already soaked from the inside?

    Waterproof

Storm-F.I.T. as a breathable fabric carries away sweat. As a waterproof shell, it repels outside moisture. And as a soft, supple garment, it will keep him not only totally dry but incredibly comfortable.

    Case Study -

He's a tech-head. he's an avid cross-country skier. And he knows he needs a jacket that will keep him dry when he's skiing hard in heavy snow and sleet. (Perspiring lightly in a refreshing mist he is not. We're talking sweating buckets under cloudbu rsts.) But what he doesn't know is that Nike created Storm-F.I.T. fabric.

Each garment can be used individually to address specific needs and conditions. Maybe all you need to go cycling in Arizona is a Dri-F.I.T. jersey to keep you cool and dry. But if you're hiking above tree line, you may want to take advan tage of the layering capabilities of NIKE F.I.T. - Dri-F.I.T. fabric to stay dry and comfortable, Therma-F.I.T. microfleece for warmth, Clima-F.I.T. microfiber for protecion from the elements and Storm-F.I.T. microfiber for waterproof breathability. What ever your needs, NIKE F.I.T. fabrics have a solution
